Headwaters Park - Ice Rink

Progress photos taken November 22, 2005

A couple of inches of ice have been added since yesterday.  It would be ideal to have at least an inch of ice covering all the tubing.  There are some random spots where the tubing is pushed up that need to be covered or where the sand wasn't level.  If you remember, every effort was made to ensure the sand was level, but wind or sometimes even the adding of water to the surface may have caused the sand to erode away.  A fire hose may be used to add water to the surface, but for more subtlety a garden hose is used.  It is given a chance to freeze and then sprayed again.  The ice rink can be flooded with water to build up the ice, however it's better to build the ice gradually.  Everything else is in place, the skates have been sharpened and the weather is cooperating!  The tents for the Christkindelmarkt have been put in place and the decorating has begun.
